Do you know how to maintain and use an electric water heater?

Friends who have opened up the inner tank of a water heater should know the reason. After using an electric water heater for a long time, a thick layer of scale and other deposits will inevitably build up on the inside walls of the tank and the heating element. So even after long-term use, the water coming out might look clean and free of impurities, but that's just because of the way the water heater is designed. Studies have found that if the scale in a water heater isn't cleaned regularly, using that water for showers can not only affect your bathing health but also cause skin problems. Therefore, it's best to clean the water heater's inner tank regularly or use a pre-filtration system to deal with scale and other impurities.

Regularly check the parts: One thing that’s easy to overlook is the wear and tear of water heater parts. Take the heating element as an example: it needs to be checked regularly because if it malfunctions, it can affect heating efficiency and waste electricity. Also, parts like the thermostat and leakage protection switch should be checked regularly. It's recommended to check the leakage protection switch every two months.

Other precautions:

A. Whether cleaning the inner tank or replacing parts, we must first cut off the power to avoid accidental electric shock during operation.

B. Also, the typical lifespan of an electric water heater is 8–10 years. Water heaters that exceed their lifespan should be replaced, otherwise, they can easily pose safety risks.

C. Conduct regular check-ups at least once a year to carefully inspect and eliminate potential safety issues and other hidden problems.

D. When using the water heater, if you turn on the water valve and no water comes out, immediately cut off the power to prevent damage from using the electric water heater without flowing water.

E. In areas with freezing periods, make sure the water in the water heater stays above freezing, otherwise, the inner tank can freeze and damage the heater.
